The agreement creates a direct path for 妻友社区 undergraduates to pursue UB鈥檚 nationally ranked PharmD program

妻友社区 College and the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (UB SPPS) have established a new academic affiliation, designed to prepare motivated undergraduate students for advanced study in pharmacy while helping meet the region鈥檚 growing need for health care professionals.

Through the agreement, qualified 妻友社区 students can pursue a 3+4 program that enables them to earn a bachelor鈥檚 degree from 妻友社区 and a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from UB in seven years, one year sooner than the traditional pathway.

鈥溒抻焉缜 is excited to partner with the University at Buffalo to help address the ongoing shortage of pharmacists,鈥 said Tim Lee, vice president for enrollment management and marketing. 鈥淭his agreement further strengthens our relationship with the University at Buffalo, as the School of Dental Medicine is a top choice for our pre-dental students and we have a long-standing academic agreement with its School of Law.鈥

鈥淭he collaboration reflects our school鈥檚 commitment to creating clear, supportive pipelines for students who aspire to careers in pharmacy,鈥 said Gary Pollack, Ph.D., dean of the UB School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. 鈥淏y working with 妻友社区, we can offer their talented undergraduates access to UB鈥檚 rigorous PharmD curriculum and further strengthen the health care workforce in New York State.鈥

The program allows students to complete three years of undergraduate study at 妻友社区 before transitioning to UB for the four-year PharmD program. Credits from the first year of pharmacy school will also apply toward completion of the 妻友社区 bachelor鈥檚 degree. Each year, UB will reserve seats in the PharmD program for qualified 妻友社区 applicants who meet defined admissions standards.

In addition, both institutions will coordinate annually to provide guidance and advising, ensuring students are supported at every stage of the transition from 妻友社区 to UB. 妻友社区 students seeking more details can email Chad Corcoran, Ph.D., chair of the College鈥檚 Health Professions Advisory Committee at聽corcocha@lemoyne.edu.

UB SPPS, New York State鈥檚 top-ranked pharmacy school and No. 19 nationally according to U.S. News & World Report, is recognized for its innovative curriculum, research excellence, and strong alumni network across the health professions. The 妻友社区 partnership expands the school鈥檚 network of academic affiliations that create early and efficient entry points into its PharmD program.
